Why, California? Why are you so dumb?
Why does the most beautiful place on earth (Southern California) have to be ruined by idiotic thinking bureaucrats? Sorry, Lets not start off on the wrong foot today! But I speak the truth, though! Maybe our politicians should be issued one of these burners below…
Why I’m blogging about the 10 dumbest laws in California…
I reached out to my attorney around the beginning of 2016 asking if there were any new tenant landlord laws for 2016. He finally got back to me Sunday evening stating there was only one new law he could find. It reads as follows:
“A landlord or a landord’s agent is to provide affected tenants with advance written notice of the use of pesticides at a dwelling unit if the landlord or authorized agent applies any pesticide without a licensed pest control operator. This bill requires the posting of a similar notice at least 24 hours prior to applying a pesticide in a common area without a licensed pest control operator, unless the pest poses an immediate threat to health and safety, in which case the notice would be required to be posted as soon as possible, but not later than one hour after the pesticide is applied. This law would add Section 1940.8.5 to the Civil Code, relating to real property.”
Not overly dumb, but still dumb in my opinion. I want to know how much of our tax payer money it took to get such a silly thing like this passed? We’ll NEVER know. Even if they did tell us, it’d probably be a lie! If we lie to the government it’s a felony. If the government lies to us, it’s politics.
At the bottom of the email my attorney said: “Other than the above, I don’t see any changes to landlord/tenant laws for 2016. Unfortunately 95% of the laws are to protect tenants to the detriment of landlords. Let me know if you have any questions.”
After reading this message from my attorney, I could empathize with him. I could empathize with his tattered, frustrated mind. I could feel the pain he feels of hopelessness for this country after spending 30+ years defending good people from frivolous, lying tenants that are backed by our state government. Maybe I’m being a little dramatic, but it bothers me! Our country is slowly in a downward spiral.
After that, I felt like venting through one of my awesome blog posts! My attorney has been in the business of evicting fools as long as I’ve been alive, and let me tell you, he’s got some absurd stories that make you question the rationality of our country. If you ever need a referral for a good eviction/real estate attorney or paralegal, call me at 310-623-2704.
95% of laws are to protect tenants at the detriment of landlords
I just pray that one day our politicians will stop focusing on power and money and focus more on making California a better, more beautiful state for everyone to live in. That goes for every state in this amazing country!
Just for laughs let’s look at the top 10 dumbest laws in California. They aren’t necessarily tied to real estate, but fun to read never-the-less. Just so you don’t think I’m making these up, visit:
Not only does it have the dumb law, but you can actually look to see that it’s 100% real. Losing faith in America yet?
